In 2004, when I first discovered Phil Booth was when he wrote the horoscopes for the Toronto Star Newspaper. Eerie though this may sound, his predictions for my zodiac sign were so “bang” on so many times in a row that I started to read his horoscopes “religiously” and enjoyed the many hopeful horizons he saw in my sign.

What Animal Eats Impatiens Only?
After the second week of attacks on my impatiens, I started asking neighbours if they were suffering a loss of flowers, but nope!
One neighbour claimed that even the rabbits have been leaving his veggie garden alone this year.
Many of my neighbours must have thought I was crazy, I mean, what animal would want to eat impatiens only, right?
…though whatever it was, it did eat off the tops of white daisies that had already gone to seed.
Hilarious Newspaper Articles – Some Favourites!

Decadent Diet Birthday Cake – Black Magic Cake
My girlfriend from grade school is on a diet and she’s doing spectacularly well so I don’t want to hinder her progress. But, it’s her birthday and we like to celebrate our birthdays with chocolate cake.
When we were kids, my mother decorated one of my birthday cakes on a budget… she used Smarties. From that day on, when invited to my birthday parties, my friends would always ask anxiously if my mother was making chocolate cake with Smarties on it, again this year. Thus a tradition got started.
Getting back to my girlfriends birthday cake, I had a choice… to make Pamela a chocolate cake that would only add temptation to break her progress (not a choice!)… or make her cupcakes instead.
Cupcakes won out because they can be frozen for later use… thus my title “Decadent Diet Birthday Cake.”

Pulled Pork Tenderloin Sandwich – a Healthier Choice!
Speaking with a friend who told me about this recipe, I took her word for the fact that she said, “pulled pork tenderloin is to die for…” and decided to make this for a lunch when first impressions meant everything.
I purchased two pieces of frozen pork tenderloin that was on special at NoFrills for $2.99 a pound. Each piece was $1.99, so together they were just over a pound. I slightly defrosted both pieces in my microwave oven so that I could cut them in half, in order to fit them in my crock pot (slow cooker).
Here’s my recipe:
