So now that you've finally decided to purchase that product and can't wait to try it out, you find out that it does everything else BUT...

So now that you’ve finally decided to purchase that product and can’t wait to try it out, you find out that it does everything else BUT what you expected.

Don’t worry, you still have a chance to get your money back using the following suggestions for getting an immediate product refund.

1. False advertising

“Get 10,000 hits to your website in 24 hours”… such tempting promises might surely make you flip out your credit card immediately. But when you apply the methods or use the software, you discover that those 10,000 hits might really result in only 10… then this is a legitimate reason for requesting a refund. Unfortunately it’s not always that easy. Many vendors get around such false advertising by stating in the fine print that these results cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, always be watching for such statements, and if you cannot believe what’s advertised then search for product reviews by first searching the internet.

2. Product outdated

Believe it or not, but I’ve seen products that were still advertised, and happily took the money out of the customer’s pocket… and were totally outdated or didn’t work anymore. I once bought a product that could not be downloaded anymore but still had the sales page up and running… it even displayed the current date indicating the end of a special promotion. Every attempt to contact the creator of the software failed, and after I read in a forum that I wasn’t the only one not being able to download the software, I contacted my credit card company and they got my money back.

3. Usability

Not every software is as user-friendly as Windows (you got the joke, right?!), which can be frustrating if you want nothing more than to use it immediately. For most complex software products, written tutorials are made available that describe exactly how to use the software. And sometimes even video tutorials are offered that make the product handling even easier. If no tutorial is made available… or you have read and watched all tutorials and still cannot manage to use the product, then state this to the creator and you should get your refund.

If you’ve contacted the product creator and still were not able to get a refund despite some legitimate and acceptable reasons, not all hope is gone. Most marketplaces offer a refund guarantee for products that were sold through them. Example: Clickbank offers its customers a general refund policy of 8 weeks after the product purchase. For a vendor like PayDotCom you have to contact the credit card processor like Paypal, which has a refund policy of 60 days.

It is always suggested to clearly state the reason for your product refund, and to keep friendly communications. Even if the product is not worth a single penny, it doesn’t make things easier when you insult the creator. Try to show that you have really tried to use the product in an efficient way. Maybe attach some screenshots, and include suggestions as to what could be made to work better, etc. The product creator might lose you as a customer but still can benefit from your experience… and most of the time happily give you your refund.

Whatever you do, please be fair. It’s just not right to purchase a product which you want and then request a refund to get your money back, but still continue to use the product. Most marketplaces like Clickbank and PayDotCom tolerate a few refunds. More than that you might not be able to purchase anything again through the specific company.

Given the present economical climate, this joke seemed THE best one I have received in awhile. Hope it makes you smile, if nothing else.

August 2009, I signed up for a Herbalife distributorship, and started receiving products the same month. It was suggest by my upline, that I should start taking Personalized Protein Powder and ShapeWorks Meal Replacement in a shake in order to maintain good health. In fact, I was originally told to use soy milk in place of regular milk to prevent additional calorie intake… which sounded reasonable to me.

Here’s the recipe I was asked to jot down during a telephone conversation with my upline:
1 ½ cups of either unsweetened juice or soy milk or almond milk (I was told soy milk was best)
2 scoops of ShapeWorks Meal Replacement
1 scoop of Personalized Protein Powder
½ cup frozen fruit (fresh fruit COULD be used but frozen was best)
¼ tsp cocoa powder

During my Chiropractor visit in September, I explained to my doctor that I had signed up for a Herbalife distributorship and I how I was taking this new protein shake. My doctor then cautioned me on the use of soy and suggested that I use regular milk, if any milk. She went on to say that many people are developing allergic reactions to soy.

Using regular milk was an easy request to fulfill… in fact, I never did use the ¼ tsp of cocoa powder, and so exchanging regular milk was simple to do. I drank one shake every day, faithfully…

By the first week in October, I noticed a small lump forming on the top left side of my middle finger’s middle knuckle. The lump was small, and it wasn’t painful… though it grew steadily throughout October.

By November the lump became so obviously swollen, and the knuckle joint itself appeared to be badly inflamed, so I telephoned for an appointment to see my General Practitioner (GP). The joint was x-rayed… and my doctor informed me that what I have looks to be osteoporosis. Results of my x-rays are pending, thus the diagnosis is yet medically inconclusive at the time of writing this. Though, do read on… and YOU decide!

If I were in my 70’s I MIGHT accept the diagnosis easier… you know, without protest… but to be prematurely deformed by this horrible disease, I feel is totally unacceptable.

The day after my appointment with my GP, I had forgotten to have my daily protein shake… and, the very next day, my knuckle was noticeably lacking in redness… to the point that “the little light bulb over my head” came on. I started to wonder if these protein shakes have anything to do with my knuckle problem, so I started to search the internet for information.

Here is ONE of the many credible articles I discovered: Protein / Soy Consumption & Osteoporosis. And, please do NOT take my word (or the word of just this ONE article) for the fact that soy consumption may cause osteoporosis… research the topic yourself and then decide.

Since my GP appointment in November, I have stopped taking the Personalized Protein Powder and ShapeWorks Meal Replacement. The inflammation in my knuckle has cleared up completely… though the lump is STILL visible. I will be letting my GP know of my findings.

The day I place making money ahead of the importance of a person’s quality of life will be the day I plan to stop breathing. Needless to say, my Herbalife distributorship WILL be cancelled… so… to those of you whom I have contacted regarding either product purchases or starting a Herbalife distributorship of your own, let me apologize to you now… and, reassure you, you won’t be hearing from my back office within Online Business Systems any time soon. I quit!

Please let this posting serve as a warning to all women… of all ages!

Would you rather be prematurely deformed by osteoporosis… or learn to lose weight in a healthy, safer way?

Slice an apple into half, and it turns brown, a copper penny suddenly becomes green, or an iron nail when left outside, will rust. What do all these events have in common? These are examples of a process called oxidation. If the sliced apple is dipped in a lemon juice, however, the rate at which the apple turns brown is slowed. It is because the vitamin C in the lemon juice slows the rate of oxidative damage.

Since its discovery 65 years ago, vitamin C has come to be known as a “wonder worker.” Due to its role in collagen formation and other life-sustaining functions, vitamin C serves as a key immune system nutrient and a potent free-radical fighter. This double-duty nutrient has been shown to prevent many illnesses, from everyday ailments such as the common cold to devastating diseases such as cancer.

The water-soluble vitamin C is known in the scientific world as ascorbic acid, a term that actually means “without scurvy.” We depend on ascorbic acid for many aspects of our biochemical functioning; yet human beings are among only a handful of animal species that cannot produce their own supply of vitamin C. Like these other animals, including primates and guinea pigs, we have no choice but to obtain this nutrient through food or our daily diet.

Vitamin C can enhance the body’s resistance from different diseases, including infections and certain types of cancer. It strengthens and protects the immune system by stimulating the activity of antibodies and immune system cells such as phagocytes and neutrophils.

Vitamin C, as an antioxidant, helps reduce the activity of free radicals. Free radicals are by-products of normal metabolism which can damage cells and set the stage for aging, degeneration, and cancer. It shouldn’t come as any surprise that vitamin C is being used for cancer treatment. In large doses, vitamin C is sometimes administered intravenously as part of cancer treatment.

Vitamin C prevents free radical damage in the lungs and may even help to protect the central nervous system from such damage. Free radicals are molecules with an unpaired electron. In this state, they’re highly reactive and destructive to everything that gets in their way. Although free radicals have been implicated in many diseases, they are actually a part of the body chemistry.

As an antioxidant, vitamin C’s primary role is to neutralize free radicals. Since ascorbic acid is water soluble, it can work both inside and outside the cells to combat free radical damage. Vitamin C is an excellent source of electrons; therefore, it “can donate electrons to free radicals such as hydroxyl and superoxide radicals and quench their reactivity.”

The versatile vitamin C also works along with glutathione peroxidase (a major free radical-fighting enzyme) to revitalize vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant. In addition to its work as a direct scavenger of free radicals in fluids, then, vitamin C also contributes to the antioxidant activity in the lipids.

Optimal health, however, requires a balance between free radical generation and antioxidant protection. One of the functions of vitamin C is to get and quench these free radicals before they create too much damage.

However, there is research to show that vitamin C may act as a pro-oxidant. In other words, vitamin C, under certain conditions anyway, may act in a manner that is opposite to its intended purpose. This has raised concern among thousands of people who supplement their diets with vitamin C…but that’s another story.

Great Macaws are created... not hatched! Questions you might want to mull over when considering adding a Blue and Gold Macaw to your family as a pet...

My Macaw Peter... with friend Frank!

Great Macaws are created… not hatched! Questions you might want to mull over when considering adding a Blue and Gold Macaw to your family as a pet are:

1. Will a bird act in a desirable way?
2. Will the bird talk?
3. Are birds intelligent?

4. Are birds affectionate and playful?
5. Will a bird be a good “fit” as a pet for my family (children and/or spouse)?
6. Are birds possessive of their owner or will they accept family members… friends?
7. Will I be able to tolerate the noise Macaws make?
8. How can I be sure my Macaw does not become a biter… or if he is, can I stop his biting?

9. Do I have what it takes in patience to train a bird this size?

While you are the only one who can truly answer the last question here… you need not worry about all of the other issues above as all are easily corrected behavioural problems… IF they even exist in your bird. It is up to us as pet owners to make certain our bird meets its greatest potential.

Other issues you MAY want answers too should you be considering adopting a previously owned bird… especially if the Macaw is considered to be a problem, are:

10. Can feather plucking be stopped?
11. Can a bird with obvious malnutrition issues be helped?
12. Can a Macaw be toilet trained?

Again, yes is the answer to all of the above… if YOU are good at following instructions. It’s as easy as that!

If you have never owned a bird before, you need to understand that birds of any sort are not domesticated like cats and dogs have been. Only through actions like hand feeding, comfort and care, human contact becomes associated with “parents” and they then become members of the bird’s flock.

Should you buy a baby Blue and Gold Macaw (or any other type of bird for that matter), be sure to deal with a trusted breeder. It’s the breeders who start the bird’s socializing, and it is because of this that most breeders start hand feeding hatchlings when they are about 16 days old.

Often unknown situations and/or locations can cause an upset and frighten a bird. As important as constant care, feeding, and handling by all family members (including friends) is, socializing also includes introducing your bird to new and different places and situations. If you want to prevent harm to your Macaw (and/or possible others) then as owner of a Macaw, it is a must that your bird trusts you in any and all locations and situations.

Remember good and/or bad behaviour are learned responses, so it is up to you, as owner to make every effort in preparing your Macaw for his new environment. Why not make it a healthy environment for everyone concerned and enjoy your new pet!

In our present economic climate, it’s obviously smart to keep costs to a minimum; especially when it relates to impulsive home improvements. However, you shouldn’t have to give up on home repairs altogether.

Here are 10 simple ways of doing home renovations inexpensively, the first time around.

1. If you need a new kitchen, you could reuse your old cupboards. Only change the doors and the hardware. It is uneconomical to just toss out good cupboards.

2. Keep your kitchen sink! Just change the tap with a more modern version.

3. Replacing flooring? Consider using bamboo floors. It’s easier to clean, it’s a renewable resource, easy to install, and while slightly more expensive than hardwood, it is cheaper than carpeting. Because bamboo is less sensitive to temperature changes, and is more durable than other flooring, it may work out to be cheaper in the long run.

4. When buying materials, look for “don’t pay a cent events” or similar offers where available. Paying at the last possible moment (without costing yourself a late fee), your money stays in your bank account longer, gaining YOU interest!

5. Try renting tools at your local equipment rental shop rather than purchasing them. If there are no equipment rental shops near you, ask your hardware shop; they should be able to point you in the right direction. This will save you maintaining medium to large tools you may not need to use anytime soon, after completing your renovations.

6. Purchase the building materials for your renovations yourself so you get the discount for bulk buying and not your renovator. In most cases, where a renovator receives half-price discounts on the necessary materials, the price they’re charging you will remain the same.

7. When choosing paint, remember though matt colours may be cheaper, they wear faster, especially if you have children or pets. Select paint you can wipe down easily and clean with little effort. Quality paint lasts longer, saving you more.

8. Hiring a retired builder could save you money. They may work slower, but they are more apt to be more careful in doing the work… and, at a fraction of the cost!

9. Combine renovation jobs where you can and save the cost for separating the work.

10. And last but by far lest… use homestars.com to help you select who you want to do your home renovations/repairs. Other homeowners had to learn the costly way. You get to save thousands of dollars by not repeating their mistakes!

The first issue I need to inform you of regarding choosing a Microsoft certification course is that you need to be certain regarding your aims and career...

The first issue I need to inform you of regarding choosing a Microsoft certification course is that you need to be certain regarding your aims and career objectives; Meaning that you need to be aware of where you desire to be, and what you are going to get from any training that you may be considering signing up for. You might want to consider a couple of points to better equip you in making a decision on this matter.

How Contented Are You?

Consider what your current profession and profile is. What are the technologies/tools you are now working with? How long have you been in your field of training, and what is your experience? Are you satisfied with the area of expertise you are currently employed in? Are you interested in change? Once you have the answers to all of these questions you can better decide on a Microsoft certification course suitable for you.

If you are content with your current area of training and wish to develop your skills further, the correct option undoubtedly is to go for something similar to your present field of expertise. However, should you prefer a different field in which to build your career in, choose a course that adheres to your area of training to expand on present your skills.

Be certain you understand that changing your area of training (especially when you have a great deal of expertise and experience in it already) is not always deemed as a smart choice with many recruiters. Thus, deciding on this issue is extremely imperative. It would be best to build on your present skills if you can, so be sure to select appropriate training that will assist you with that. However, if your career has just begun… and you’re not pleased with where you are, then choosing a new field of expertise may be just what your career needs!

In case other restrictions exist, be sure to research thoroughly the level of the training you’re interested in, and also the total cost that you will need to pay out for any course. After you’ve thoroughly considered all these points, go ahead and select your Microsoft certification course.

With all the General Motors dealership closures going on… and given the less than credible reputation of many of the dealerships within the Durham Region of Ontario, I am at a total loss to know who to trust with my new car purchase.

Durham Region

I have heard so many horror stories like: customers being charged for oil changes that never took place (chalked tires, plus video footage proved several cases); major repairs supposedly done under warranty and charged back to General Motors, when in fact the repairs were never really done; and/or a flat out refusal to make repairs under warranty… like brakes of a vehicle under a recall. Please, if YOU know of a trustworthy dealership, do tell!

Yikes! And then there’s this reason: GM will keep about 600 dealerships slated to be dropped from sales network

Wow, the stories I hear about pets being inadvertently poisoned by us, their caregivers…it breaks my heart. I know I’d never be able to forgive myself if by providing my dog with a poor diet...

Wow, the stories I hear about pets being inadvertently poisoned by us, their caregivers… it breaks my heart. I know I’d never be able to forgive myself if by providing my dog with a poor diet; I contributed to his early death.

This morning, while listening to CHFI’s morning show, Erin Davis mentioned how many of us feed treats to our pets that hamper their health and could literally poison them. Yikes!

Erin read out a much more thorough list of foods to AVOID feeding dogs and cats than I listed in my blog entry yesterday.

Here’s the list:

Grapes and raisins

Garlic and onions …and their powders

Macadamia nuts

Mushrooms

Tomatoes and tomato plants

Chicken bones

Xylitol (a sweetener found in Trident and Orbit gum, just 5 pieces can kill a 65 pound dog!)

Raw potatoes (especially ones with green spots!)

Nutmeg

Turkey skin

Caffeine (example: coffee & tea)

Alcohol & hops

Moldy foods

Erin went on to say how a cat had gotten lily dust on its paws, and became very ill after licking the dust off… so, do be careful of the types of house plants you keep near your “wittle-waskles”… in case you’ve “adopted” a nibbler!

With my new found arsenal of Wellness dog food products ready to feed my Shih Tzu, I anticipate Nugget’s health to improve immensely.
